Charlie AK was founded by mother and daughter Kristina and Charlotte Abrahamsson Kwetczer with the belief that you shouldn’t have to choose between clothes with character and clothes you can wear for years.
We create pieces you’ll want to keep wearing, with distinctive design, carefully considered natural materials, fit and quality to make that possible.
OUR STORY
It all began in 2016, when Charlotte, after much persistence, finally convinced Kristina to make her graduation dress. We fell in love with the process and kept creating, exploring unexpected designs and focusing mainly on how we could make women feel in our clothes.
In 2018, we founded Charlie AK. We didn’t have a clear plan for what the company would become, but we shared a curiosity that kept us experimenting with new techniques and ideas. The clothes were bold, pieces you’d never seen before, but still maintaining the female silhouette.
Neither of us came from a traditional fashion background. Kristina’s background in architecture and Charlotte’s in engineering brought different perspectives to our work, united by a shared passion for design.
As the project grew, so did our ambitions. We didn't want to become just another fashion brand, adding tons of new clothes to the world that were worn once or twice and then never worn again. We wanted to create pieces that women would truly love, feel confident in and return to again and again. Clothes worth investing in.
We had both experienced the same frustration: a favourite garment that didn’t stand the test of time, or a piece that remained in perfect condition but no longer felt relevant. Those experiences helped us define what we wanted Charlie AK to become.
In 2021, we took the brand in a new direction and released our core collection, bringing design and longevity together. We wanted to create clothes with enough character to fall in love with, and lasting appeal beyond the moment. Pieces made with the materials, fit and quality to keep wearing and keep loving for years to come.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to help women build wardrobes that last, rather than wardrobes that need to be replaced.
We believe the best clothes should be just as good to own as they are to want. Clothes that make you feel confident when you wear them, that continue to feel relevant, and that are made well enough to stay in your wardrobe for years.
That’s why we create distinctive designs with the materials, fit and quality to make them last, while building the Charlie AK wardrobe one design at a time. Each new piece is designed to add to what’s already there — giving you new ways to wear your wardrobe as it grows.
Because building a lasting wardrobe shouldn’t mean compromising on character.
MADE TO KEEP WEARING
For us, lasting desire requires more than good design.
We work with natural materials throughout our clothing, while our jackets use recycled polyester. Our pieces are made in Sweden, Portugal and Italy, with close attention to fit, construction and how each garment feels to wear.
Because wanting to keep wearing something only matters if it is made so you can.
And because clothes are meant to be worn, things can happen along the way. When they do, we offer repairs for Charlie AK pieces to help keep them in wear.
